I am interested in hearing any and all die-off reactions or herxhiemer reactions that anyone is having. Others may find it interesting.
How many of you have experienced a worsening of existing symptoms as opposed to new symptoms as a result of die-off.

I’m in Phase 2 and have had a worsening of existing symptoms throughout each Phase. Each time I go through my antifungal rotation I find a difference in symptoms. They’ve lessened as Phase 2 has gone by and some symptoms are barely noticeable any longer.
The interesting thing I’m finding is that when the candida was in full force some of the possibly non-candida related symptoms were not as predominant but now that the candida is clearing it’s made way for other symptoms to come out. - admin says:

That is very interesting, how long did it take for your die-off symptoms to lessen? - jeannie says:

I’ve been on Phase 2 for almost 3 months so I would say it’s only been fairly recently that my reactions during each rotation have become more subtle. During my last colonic about 2 weeks ago my hydrotherapist told me that I was cleansing very well and did not notice any signs of yeast. I’ve found that colonics throughout this Phase have really been a great help. I can only wonder if what I’m dealing with now are the after effects of what the candida did to my system. - mobey says:

I have been on Phase 2 for about 7 weeks. I was feeling really great; no die off symptoms since the beginning of the Phase, until my birthday! My co-workers bought me cupcakes, and of course, I had to have them. (I had been really good on the diet prior, and had not had any sugar since small amounts at Christmas). These were cupcakes with VERY sugary frosting, and loads of it. The next day, I had a running nose, congestion, and felt generally awful – like you do when you get a cold. It has been about a week since I have had the cupcakes, and I am just beginning to feel better now! Needless to say, I won’t be having anymore sugar anytime soon. - admin says:

wow!
So you had sugar it made the some new yeast and then the program killed the new yeast and you felt the die-off! - danielle says:

Hello this is Danielle again. Please write back and tell me what your biggest struggle has been with the diet. For example: breakfast foods, snack foods. I am doing extensive research on these kind of foods and would like input from you. Thank you. - remeehan says:

Hi everyone. I’m just now starting my second week on the candi-scrub supplements in Phase 0 and I wanted to know if anyone recalled their symptoms from this phase. I have heightened awareness in muscles, feel a warmth traveling through my legs. Sometimes I get tingling, similar to when blood is rushing back after an extremity has fallen asleep – but without the sensitivity. Also, I’m having big problems with constipation. I tried aloe, cascara, psyllium, flaxseed, flaxmeal. I just can’t seem to kickstart my bowels. I eventually went but I don’t want to have to do this daily. - admin says:
March 19, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Have you tried aloe lite or aloe 225 caps?
Sometimes just drinking hot ginger every hour will do it.
You sound like your getting die-off phase 0 and your bowels must move to reduce these symptoms. - jeannie says:

Hi Danielle,
You asked in a message above what have been some diet challenges. I think not properly counting my carbohydrates (all of them) has been a struggle. The other thing that’s been hard is the boredom of eating the same types of food all the time. Being creative has become more difficult. - JenLynn says:

I’ve been getting headaches and have had a runny nose almost every day. This is the 2nd month of phase 1, and we upped my doses a bit and these symptoms are more frequent than last month. Last month I went out drinking one night for a friend’s birthday (never again!) and it felt as if I had gotten a cold afterwards but now after reading this it was probably die-off symptoms too. - remeehan says:

Hi – I’m in Phase 0 but actively doing the candida diet. One of my symptoms prior to beginning Phase 0 was bone and muscle pain. Well it subsided for a while and tonight it, along with a flare up of a yeast symptoms vaginally has occurred. Now, on easter I had a little cocktail sauce but that was it. Do you think this is die off or reaction. Its not easy to tell. Also, like JenLynn says, perhaps it was the carbs. Today I had about ten tortillas in a taco salad meal I posted in the recipe exchange and later I ate a few rice cakes. Is that too much? - remeehan says:

One more thing – what brand of colloidal silver is recommended? I’d like to use that along side the diet and other supplements. - admin says:
March 26, 2008 at 9:48 am
Hi Remeehan;
The best silver brands that we know of our Allergy research group and VRP.
The amount of carbs from the rice cakes, the tortillas etc sounds ok for now. - admin says:

Hi JenLynn;
Yes I would agree that is die-off, When we cheat on the program the supplements will kill the new candida growth from the cheat and you will feel it die-off! - jeannie says:

I don’t seem to have the typical die off…flu symptoms etc. Mine are usually increased vaginal discharge, worsening of athletics foot and brain fog. I’m not sure if that’s because I’m feeding the yeast inadvertently or just die off.Or if I’m not having enough bowel movements in a day? How would one tell? Is it possible that the Candida/Yeast Diet I’ve been following is not right for a person or was better for someone in the beginning of the program vs. midway or towards the end of it? How would we know? I haven’t had any sugar, white flour, alcohol or dairy since I’ve started this several months ago. - admin says:
April 16, 2008 at 2:34 pm
The major reason why people get die-off are not enough bowel movements and feeding the yeast and making it grow only to kill it again and feel more die-off. If you haven’t had sugar, white flour, alcohol etc the odds are your diet is fine.
An increase in your existing complaints is a die-off reaction they don’t have to be flu symptoms. - grm says:

Hi
I have been suffering from lower back pain (like lumbago) and my homepath associates this with the Candida. I have been on the Diet for one week (removed all sugars, fruits, cereals, pastas, breads etc) but am still feeling this back pain, which comes and goes. Has anyone had these symptoms and has the diet relieved the pain? - admin says:

I have heard from many people that the candida elimination will help, but it could take months. - gtrchk9779 says:

I’m on phase I and haven’t noticed any real “die-off” symptoms. In fact, my allergies have cleared up, I’ve lost weight (more than I’m comfortable with) and people tell me my skin and eyes look really clear. The only thing I’m concerned with is my energy level. I don’t have that “I want to run around the block” energy that I used to. Michael Biamonte told me I have slight malabsorption which might be the cause of my decreased energy level, and he put me on the HCL Program and prescribed SImilase BV. I seem to be having problems with the HCL program. I started off and got up to 10 tablets per meal, then experienced stomach pain, bloating and had loose bowels. So I lowered the dose by one, had the same experience a couple days later. No I am down to 7 tablets and haven’t had the reaction for at least a week or so. Anybody else on this program who can give advice? - admin says:

Its fine that you not feeling die-off. Its better that your complaints are improving. Energy is addressed on phase 3 its not expected to improve in phase 1. Your responce to the hcl program is text book, just keep lowering the dose as reactions occur. - gtrchk9779 says:

Also, I just bought a new thermometer because I thought I was coming down with a cold which everyone seems to have around me. I took my temperature and it was 97.6, did it again. Same temp? Is this normal or is my thermometer broken? Or could I have a low thyroid? - admin says:

Can someone tell me what these phases are? I just started the whole diet this weekend. Here’s my history with Candida. I have all these symptoms, jock itch, pitted finger nails, fungal eaten big toe nail, oral thrush, under arm and scalp candida, rare rashes. All those symptoms built up over the last 8 years. I never knew it was Candid until now. The latest and newer symptoms are swollen big toe joint, and swollen ring finger joint that will not go away. Someone please help me. I am drinking Pau D’arco tea 3 times a day, eating broccoli, fish, kale and salad. I’m also drinking lemon juice with cayanne pepper every morning. I’m afraid my life is over. Help me. please. Someone give me directions. There’s way too much information online. All weekend long, I’ve been researching this f-ing disease. - admin says:

Hey, I’ve noticed this site gets very little use lately. I think it is so important to have a support system while doing the candida program. Typically, many people don’t understand what candida is and how it affects someone physically, mentally, emotionally. It can be a very lonely journey trying to recover your own health. How can we get more people on here interacting and sharing experiences? What I find most challenging is maintaining and peaceful and happy mindset, which I hear can have loads of benefits for recovering health. Yoga has been helping, but I also find the rare occasion when I get to talk to someone, share experiences and not feel so alone doing this program. Any suggestions? - admin says:

I haven’t started this particular program yet but i found this forum and teared up. There are lots of forums and websites out there that discuss candida trouble, but not a single soul in person, close to home actually understands or listens openly to me. I am struggling and have been for ten months since my 11 month old now got thrush. We have never been the same. Doctors don’t listen, don’t believe in yeast infections that can’t be seen openly. I know that is what we have, it keep flaring up. Both of my children get rashes on the rears, I stay so tired I can’t get off the couch, we have all started having asthma, I have started having serious allergies to everything. I can go on, but i won’t. Anyway, I ordered three-lac. I was anxious and ignorant so I started on 2 packs, my 3 yr old on 1 pack and my 11 month old on half pack, which is what i read to do. We have been sooo sick since, especially my three year old. Plus, I don’t feel like I’m too successful with diet, I don’t even have the energy to buy groceries, my husband does it for me and he doesn’t know what to buy. With kids, I need easy till our energy returns. I was just hoping to find someone out there who could just offer advice, maybe. Thanks. - maryacarlo says:

A quick response for jahuff26, enroll in this program with Dr. Biamonte for yourself and your 2 children. I am in phase 1 of the program for candida, but its a slow progress. I have been sick since I had my son, he is now almost 2. Many factors led to my yeast overgrowth, but not one doctor could figure out what was wrong with me and I was almost hospitalized in may 2008. Its a long hard road but Dr. Biamonte is the only person I have found that understands how to eliminate candida and restore your health. I am currently experiencing a lot of ‘die-off’, but I am optomistic about the future and getting my life back. I am also in the process of testing my son because he has mild overgrowth as well, and I dont want it to get bad as mine. I would never want him to feel what I have had to go through. I strongly suggest that you contact the office and set up an appointment with Dr. Biamonte. - maryacarlo says:

Just curious, how many people that are sick with candida were nexium users? - gtrchk9779 says:

It is a long road to recovery. Sometimes it also takes a change in lifestyle to truly turn around your health. I found that I was working jobs in offices with flourescent lighting, windows that would barely open and when opened would let in dust and exhaust from the street, old HVAC system that probably had lots of mold and bacteria in. Many of me and many of my co-workers got allergies and colds all the time. I believe two of us got walking pneumonia and did not even know it. So long hard days at work + poor quality environment = physical and mental stress and lowered immunity. Add a round of steroids to that for allergy related asthma and you have a full blown case of candida. I had to get OUT of that building and regain my health little by little. Dr. Biamonte’s program started me down the path to wellness. My suggestion is to go slow, don’t be impatient and learn to listen to your body. - admin says:

maryacarlo….nexium and zantac promote candida if you already have it because it reduces the amount of stomach acid you have, and stomach acid is necessary to kill candida. You probably have acid reflux because of the candida, I know I did. Probiotics and digestive enzymes will clear up acid reflux, it will take a bit of time. Nexium was not working for me, but after a month on the candida diet and taking candida killing supplements (as well as enzymes and probiotics), my acid reflux is completely gone.
I have a question. I have been going through die off symptoms, the worst ones are over, but my mid back area and stomach muscles are very sore and tight feeling….is this a normal die off symptom? Also, I feel so weak sometimes I almost black out. Is that normal? I feel a little better after I eat, but sometimes it’s very scary. - admin says:

Everyone has yeast in their intestines. When it overgrows and turns into it’s dangerous fungus form it roots into the sides of your intestines. It finds bloods vessels, attaches itself to them and sucks the sugar supply from your blood to keep it alive. To prevent yeast from converting to this invasive fungal form take two tablespoons of cold pressed extra virgin olive oil with 2 biotin supplements 3 times per day. Do this for at least 6 months to get good results. Stay on the Candida diet, take the Candida killing supplements (have at least 5 different types and rotate each one every 4 days to stop the fungus from becoming resistant to any one supplement) and take intestinal and immune healing supplements such as neem, propolis, enchinacea, L-Glutamine, etc., to get your body healthy again. I use chicory root to move the dead yeast out of my body quicker and liver support supplements like goldenseal and barberry because detoxing these parasites is hard on the liver. I hope this info helps someone. - coconuttruffles says:

oh and don’t forget your probiotics and digestive enzymes, they are ultra important, especially if the candida has caused acid reflux. - admin says:
